Thanksgiving Call to Action-Support the Standing Rock Sioux & Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline!

Posted on Nov 21, 2016

Thank you for allowing Back to Eden Bakery to be a part of your Thanksgiving and/or your world.  We greatly appreciate your support and consider it an honor to be able to serve our community in this way.

We consider it our duty to give back whenever we can and when we begin to count our blessings this holiday our minds can’t help but go to the Native People of this land and all the abuses they are being subjected to right now in America 2016. We hope that by now every one of you is aware of the assault against the Standing Rock Sioux by the North Dakota government on behalf of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Just last night hundreds of peaceful protestors were attacked on a bridge by law enforcement under the cover of darkness with rubber bullets, tear gas, bean bags, concussion grenades and water cannons in subfreezing temperatures just for trying to protect their water and ancestral lands. While we want to honor everyone’s need for a peaceful and stress-free holiday we respectfully invite you to really consider the Native lives that are on the line right now as they fight to protect clean water.

And then we humbly ask you to take action in any way you can this holiday season. Call your elected representatives, mainstream media outlets, make donations to organizations and campaigns supporting the Standing Rock Sioux’ resistance efforts. As weary as we all are of talking politics we also invite you to  engage your family and friends in a conversation this Thanksgiving about how we can all better support Native People in their fight to protect Mother Earth and their traditional ways of life. Their cause is our cause and we owe it to future generations to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux in every way we personally can.

Read below for ways you can help. Do whatever you can, whenever you can!

Blessings of peace and happiness for all our relations this holiday!

Time to Start Placing your Holiday Orders!

Posted on Nov 10, 2016
Hello Back to Eden Community!

We hope you are settling into the shorter days and cooler weather nicely. It would be safe to say that Autumn is one of our favorite seasons at the bakery because of the wonderful, fresh ingredients we can use during this time of year. It’s likely that if you’ve stopped by either of our locations, you’ve seen our celebration of pumpkin, pear, warming spices, root vegetables, and more fall specific ingredients. Not only does this season bring our favorite flavor profiles, but we also say hello to the holidays! Those hosting or attending a holiday feast are now able to provide their guests (and themselves!) with allergen and dietary friendly products that not only taste great, but look lovely as well. Take a moment to look over the items available for ordering around the holiday season and then shoot us an email or give us a call to place your orders! Our calendars fill up quickly around this time so don’t hesitate to get your orders in.

On the subject of the upcoming holiday season, have you started purchasing your gifts for loved ones yet? Back to Eden may come to mind when thinking of desserts and delicious food, but did you know that we also have a retail section of our store? You can shower your friends and family in Back to Eden swag to ensure you’re spreading the most holiday cheer possible! We have mugs, T shirts (a staff favorite), retail size bags of our custom blended Back to Eden Trailhead Coffee Roasters coffee, and of course - gift cards! Gift cards are the perfect way to show someone you love them. These cards can be used for anything from cakes for special events to covering their morning cup of coffee for the next month or so. It’s a surefire way to give a gift that keeps on giving. We are able to mail gift cards for anyone out of state that wants to send something special to a Portland resident! Give us a call to find out more.
In case you missed the buzz - we are proudly selling our prepackaged house flour blend at both of our locations, as well as Food Fight! Grocery. We couldn’t be happier to be able to provide this product to those of you that struggle with finding the perfect gluten free flour substitute for all of your favorite recipes. Have you by chance already begun utilizing our floud blend in the kitchen? Stay tuned for a special contest where you can show off your baking skills AND win some Back to Eden swag.
As always, we appreciate the support and love from our community. Without you, none of this would be possible. We wish you a loving, safe, productive holiday season.
